For the small group of dedicated readers, you already know that I'm late with the pics of our last vacation, to the Dutch North Sea.
The trip started off with a few days at Eva's parent's place...to relax and catch up a bit. The kiddoes loved looking in Opa's little pond to see how the fish were doing. After these few relaxing days, we headed to the Dutch North Sea to do some 'luxury' camping. We were on a campground ... which was absolutely huge. With a few simple restaurants, a grocery store, a few playgrounds, and lots of services, it had a lot to offer for families.
Why luxury: we had a military style tent, which was the size of a large room, with plywood floors and full of amenities like tub, running water, fridge, TV, stove, microwave, wood burning stove (which we used often), and a coffee machine (very important!).
While I love camping, I'm getting to the point that I like to have my own bathroom - expecially if we will be there for a while.
The other benefits of the Dutch campgrounds: we were close to the beach.
We had lots of fun on the playground. Above is yet another Emily Party Grrl pic.
Dinner with the Spittler's (and the Schild-Spittlers ;-)
oopsie daisy.
This playground was right across the street from our tent.
Breakfast on our porch. We had awesome weather...no rain and warm enough to enjoy the beach. Which, for those of you that know the North Sea, is no small feat. The North See can have plenty of suboptimal weather and lots of rain.
We went on a few family caches.
Emily and Quinn shared carring the Garmin (the GPS)...and Quinn is getting much better at reading where we have to go...and how far we have to go.
This was a super cool climbing tree.
At the end of the hike, with hints to find along the way, we found the box.
Eva and the kids during low tide.
One of the playgrounds had these go-carts. Go Speed Racer! Guess who always wanted to race.
The view of the playground from Susi & Moritz' spot at the campground.
Emily and her beloved stones: if you zoom into the pic, you see the stones in the air, near her face.
All in all, we had a great vaca -> how can it not be good when the weather is so nice and we have so much good 'quantity' time together. The kids had tons of ice cream, lots of flexibility, got to stay up late, and got to play all day with their parents and friends.
