Holland and the North Sea: June 2006

On Friday afternoon, we headed to the North Sea of Holland (Egmond). The weather was cold and windy - not ideal beach weather, but it just sort of goes that way on the North Sea. The beaches are great with very fine, flour like sand (that seems to stay in your clothes, teeth, and other orifices).

The North Sea is a very popular vacation spot, and as you can see from the pic below, some of the vacationers put up small houses right on the beach. The dutch call them houses...but they look like trailers to me. Dutch Rednecks...you might be a redneck if...you park your trailer right on the beach.

A dutch lighthouse.

One of the small, cute villages near the beach. We sat outside and had some lunch before we headed to Hattingen. I really liked the building in the background.
