Hell

For those of you that have been wondering why we haven't posted in a while...get over it. Just kidding, we were on vacation for a few weeks and just got back. I'll post the vacation pics in a few days, but before we go there, here are a few nice pics 'pre vacation'.Here's Quinn 'brushing' his teeth (I think for the first time). It is a bit more like 'biting', since he tends to want to try to 'eat' the brush, but we'll get there. Right now, his two lower teeth are in, and his two upper teeth are almost showing.

So, you are wondering why this post is titled Hell...well, it had to do with our flight back from Denver.

As you know, Quinn has spoiled Eva and I: he virtually never screams and hasn't really had many temper tantrums. We were a bit concerned with the long flight to the US, but he did a great job. He didn't really sleep on the plane, but he didn't cry either...we just had to keep him busy. No jetlag either.

That all changed on our flight back from vacation.

Our 24+ hour ordeal began at 4:30am Denver time. Quinn was in great shape through the Denver to Newark flight. We thought that he would sleep a bit during the 6 hour layover, we'd give him his evening milk on the flight to Germany, and he would then sleep the whole flight.

Wrong.

He slept only about 15 minutes during the layover, and if we wouldn't play with him, he would begin to cry. Eva and I took him on multiple trips around the concourse to little avail. Once on the plane, he was even more difficult. After his evening milk and multiple diapers, we finally got him to sleep with lots of singing. An hour or so later, the PA came on (really loud) and woke him up. For the next 6+ hours we were keeping him busy so that he wouldn't scream.

For parents like us that aren't used to a screaming child, this flight was horrendous. Of course, the second the plane landed, Quinn fell asleep in my arms...and slept the whole way home from Frankfurt. Out of the 24+ hour travel time, Quinn slept maybe 3-4 hours and was just really tired.

As of this blog post, both mother and child are catching up on their sleep. Quinn has already had his morning milk, and has shown his 'normal' self with lots of smiles.
